Kaleidoscope Academy has produced some of the highest targeted growth rate in reading and math for the Appleton Area School District since its inception. This has created a continuous growth in the demand from families to join the Kaleidoscope Academy family. This is evident by our growth since the 2007-08 school year.

As you can see below our school has grown dramatically since we first started.

Year                Enrollment
2007-08             129
2008-09             159
2009-10             175
2010-11             186
2011-12             247
2012-13             337
2013-14             338
2014-15             343
2015-16             347
2016-17             618

The Kaleidoscope Academy Governance Board voted to significantly increase the school’s capacity in the winter of 2010-11 and again in 2011-12 to meet a growing demand. Over the following years, Kaleidoscope Academy reached its cap for enrollment and maintained a growing waiting list.

In the summer of 2015, the AASD Board voted to close Roosevelt Middle School and have Kaleidoscope Academy become the neighborhood school. With this designation, all students in the traditional Roosevelt neighborhood are guaranteed a seat and it provides additional seats for students on the waiting list. This allowed for an additional 70 students to be called up from the waiting list with enrollment now exceeding 600.

A larger Kaleidoscope Academy is exciting for two reasons. First, the building will now contain just one school, KA, which will allow it to build its identity and school community.

Secondly, an increased enrollment means more elective options can be considered to further cater to students and families. We believe matching the courses to student interest will increase student motivation and ownership in their learning.
