Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),

It is hard to believe we have a month of school in already. It has been a great start of the year and it was good to see so many families at our Open House, Parent Night,
and athletic events. When October rolls around, many of you are accustomed to having parent teacher conferences in elementary school. KA does not hold traditional parent teacher conferences. Parents or teachers can call for a conference at any time. If you want to meet with any of your child’s teachers at any time, please contact them to arrange a time.
We do hold student-led conferences (Oct. 28, Nov. 4 & 7) over three late afternoons/early evenings. Students will outline what they are currently doing and show what they have done to this point in the year. A teacher will sit and add points along the way when needed. In addition, eighth grade students will be reviewing their career planning information. You should expect to receive a letter in the US mail by mid-October with your conference date and time. We schedule every family so no one has to wait in line. You can learn more about student led conferences on our
school website.
KA does not have a formal PTA, PTO, or Parent Booster Club because of limited parent participation. Instead of having a traditional parent group, we will offer opportunities for parent involvement through volunteering, serving on committees (including the KA Governance Board), and gather feedback in conjunction with other school functions. We hope this allows for more flexibility and parent involvement by streamlining everyone’s time, and ultimately enhance the learning community at KA.
If you have an interest in volunteering, please contact the office (832-6294). If you are interested in serving on the KA Governance Board or be a parent rep on one of our building committees, please contact me (832-6299 or
brantallen@aasd.k12.wi.us). Most of our building committee meetings are before
school at 7:00 a.m. I hope that all is well with you and your family, and enjoy the Fall colors and cooler weather. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, concerns or general feedback. Your feedback is important to us so we can continually strive to make Kaleidoscope the best school ever.

Sincerely,

Al
